Farm in Focus: My nature friendly farming journey

Join NFFN Farming Champion Florence Mannerings to hear about her journey into nature-friendly farming at Chilton Farm in Kent. Florence will explain how she and her family turned an intensive farm that was in a very poor state into a thriving dairy business where food production and nature work together.

Who We Are

The Nature Friendly Farming Network (NFFN) is a farmer-led organisation dedicated to farming in harmony with nature. By embracing natural processes, we not only support biodiversity but also improve farm incomes, strengthen local economies, and enhance farmer well-being. Nature-friendly farming builds resilience to climate change and helps secure long-term food security.

NFFN provides a platform for farmers to share knowledge, access training and events, and advocate for sustainable farming practices. We give a strong voice to farmers in key policy discussions, ensuring their perspective is heard.

Our members come from diverse backgrounds—large and small farms, organic and conventional—but are united by a shared commitment to creating a productive, wildlife-rich countryside.

NFFN welcomes both farmers and the public. By working together, we can learn, inspire, and create a greater positive impact. For our international audience: We invite farmers, environmentalists, and supporters from across the globe to connect with our network. Whether you’re farming in Europe, Asia, Africa, or beyond, our shared goal of sustainable farming transcends borders.

Membership is free and open to everyone. Join us today: nffn.org.uk/register

Farmer Story:

Meet Samara Johnstone, a farmer from the Isle of Islay – the southernmost of the Inner Hebrides islands. Samara and Ed Burrell took on Cornabus Farm, her family’s extensive beef and sheep farm in 2020. Since then, they’ve adapted the farm in a way which works for them and for the environment.
